This year has turned out to be a very different year for us all. Usually we would be celebrating our annual Summer Jam in Devonport Park now, but instead we are bringing you a week long of Summer Jam Online!
It’s been a really lovely week celebrating ‘Togetherness’ with you all despite our physical difference. It is at moments such as these that music really can make a difference!
Have a watch of some of our videos below and also have a look at our Facebook feed. We are posting special summer content all week and some activities we are inviting you to get involved with.

PMZ Events: Summer Jam in the Park 2018
Bringing you a little sunshine and joy from PMZ's special celebratory performance event in the Summer of '18!
The groups performing at PMZ's 'Summer Jam in the Park' have all been creating music with PMZ Music Leaders and come together to share a fun-filled morning in the sun. Over 250 people got involved on the day, including pupils from local primary school St Joseph's and secondary school pupils performing as part of our 'Rhythm and Respect' project, all the way through to some fabulous music and dance from our 'Moving Sounds' group. Bringing their special magic to the whole day was PMZ's oldest and wisest participants from many of the residential homes and sheltered housing settings we work in.
Intergenerational Coordinator Rob Tilsley tells us about Summer Jam in the Park and the film provides a taste of the joy that music can bring to some of the delightfully diverse groups we work with.
Many thanks to Jodie Saunders for improvising around the theme composed by Moving Sounds which has been as the main soundtrack behind this vide.

Together ~ Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, PMZ Summer Jam, 'Our Band'
This is a very special piece of music called ‘Together’, which is all about togetherness, although we are apart.
It has been put together with long time PMZ partner the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment ‘Our Band’ includes OAE musicians, students from City College Plymouth and staff and volunteers from PMZ.
The project has involved musicians both here in Plymouth, London and King’s Lynn. Other groups involved in the project are from Cricket Green School and Churchill Park Academy.
For many years PMZ has been working in partnership with the amazing Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Many of you have taken part in these projects, or perhaps you know someone who has. Every time we all meet, amazing music happens. We listen, learn, play, create and explore what it means to be a musician. How could this work if we couldn’t be together? How incredible it is that despite the challenges of these extraordinary times, musicians pulled together across the country to create something truly magical!
A big thank you to Cherry Forbes from OAE for the lovely introduction, to James Redwood who pulled this all brilliantly together and thanks to all the wonderful musicians (and their fabulous instruments) involved.
You can find more about the OAE on their website here:
https://oae.co.uk/
Look out for more in the autumn as this wonderful work grows and more people get involved!
